Problem:
Coffee is one of the most intensive CO2 food products. One third of the world’s coffee is drunk in Europe. Every year in Moldova 2700 tons of coffee waste is produced. The majority of it ends up in the landfills generating high methane and carbon dioxide and adding up to greenhouse emissions.

Solution: The main goal of the project is to conduct a feasibility study to close the coffee loop for Moldova. Ecobean provides the necessary know-how and essential experience with the logistics of spent coffee grounds – transportation, upcycling technology, project management and implementation.

Ecobean in partnership with Tucano Coffee conducts research for project partners in Moldova, designs dedicated solution for Tucano and provides the feasibility study for scaling up and industrial implementation of the solution in Moldova.
